GRIMSLEY

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania

About Shannon

My name is Shannon Grimsley (she/her/hers).
I am a therapist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and life transitions. I use a trauma informed and strengths based approach to support my clients. I believe you are the expert on you and I strive to meet you where you are to support your individual needs and goals.

I have training and experience in using a variety of different modalities including inference based CBT (I-CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for treating OCD, as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness techniques, and person centered therapy.

I graduated in 2011 with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. I have worked in a variety of different settings in three different states, including school based treatment, inpatient treatment facilities, and intensive outpatient settings for mental health. It has always been my goal to create a practice that aligns with my values; I opened Standpoint Counseling Services in 2022.

My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and competent. I welcome individuals who are seeking a place to explore their gender identity and expression. I have training and experience in letter writing to support clients who are seeking gender affirming medical care. I also provide affirming care for neurodivergent clients who are formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed.

Anxiety can take many forms and I am here to support you in your journey to better understand your experience and get ‘unstuck’ from the worries, racing thoughts, or specific fears that make it difficult for you to live the life you want.
